Purpose and Value
Coming to university can be intimidating and with a wide variety of options available to students, it can be hard to decide ways in which to develop, grow and find support on campus. With this mind, RCAS is excited to collaborate with RCFA and RCMA to launch a unified mentorship program that provides an easy access for students to find support and connect with an upper year mentor to ask questions about, but not limited to, student life, recruitment, or U of T in general. The goal of the program is to boost the overall community spirit within Rotman Commerce, increase participation from students for student life events and initiative, create interaction between students in different specialists, and ease student transition.
When registering for the program, students will indicate which specialist they want to learn more about and will be paired with a mentor from that specialization. The purpose and value outlined above will be fulfilled through three main collaborative events hosted together by the three student groups throughout the year – a kick off, a mid-year, and a year-end event. These events will foster interaction between mentor-mentee pairs as well as with other pairs in the program. Each student group will also host smaller events/initiatives that will be completely up to the discretion of each group to focus on concepts and needs that are more specific to each specialization.
